David Boshears

David Boshears is a native of Washington County and graduated from East Tennessee State University with a BS in Marketing and Business Management.  He later completed the Fuqua School of Business for Advanced Management at Duke University.  Mr. Boshears was employed by Pet, Inc.-Dairy Division for 23 years at the division headquarters in Johnson City.  He served in various management capacities with the last one being Executive VP-General Manager of the division.  In this position, Mr. Boshears was responsible for over 3,000 employees and had sales revenue of $300m in his area and reported to Division President, Dr. Steve Conerly.  Upon leaving Pet, he purchased a franchise for a golf and games service and operated this facility for ten years.  The capital requirement to begin this enterprise was in excess of $600k and he was the sole stockholder of the corporation.  Mr. Boshears then joined forces with another gentleman in the software service industry named Silver Creek Technologies.  This business led to the development of a highly successful program to screen hiring for the hourly work force employers.  Some of the clients using the service included Pals Sudden Service locally, national accounts of Bojangles and Captain D’s, and various franchise groups including some Dairy Queens, Dominos Pizza, Wendy’s, and numerous convenience stores and hotel groups.  This business was sold to a major software services group in Richmond, VA. approximately three years ago.

Previous experience of service for non-profit boards included a five year period with Comprehensive Community Services based in Johnson City.  While serving on that board, a school for troubled teens with drug addiction programs was begun in Sullivan County.  This program had on site residents to whom they provided academic services and treatment. Mr. Boshears also served for three years on the National Kidney Foundation local board.  He assisted in establishing a fund raising program for NKF that included a four player miniature golf tourney.  Much of the sponsorship for this tourney was obtained by the Civitan Club in Johnson City who co-sponsored this event with him for almost ten years.

Mr. Boshears is a member of Jonesborough United Methodist where he served two terms as Administrative Council Chairman along with numerous other offices over his 25 years in that church.  He is a member of the United Emmaus Community and served on seven walks for this organization along with being the Lay Director for one walk.  Currently, David and his wife Pat attend Trinity Baptist Church where they help teach a Sunday School class.  He and Pat have been married for 48 years and have two daughters and five grandchildren.  The home residence is in Johnson City and they have wintered (January-March) in Florida for the last four years.  Outside interests include golf, reading, writing, being a fan of nearly all sports events, and loving on his children and grandchildren.
